Owerri Senatorial Zone: Asoluka under intense pressure to seek alternative platform

Few days after their primary election in Imo state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seems to be finding it uneasy as it sets to record another mass defection on what some aggrieved members could better describe as irregularities and gang up against most credible aspirants.

Failure to manage its crisis has created opportunities for opposing political parties who are in desperate move to find candidates that could be acceptable to the generality of Imo people.

Recent of it all came from the Owerri zone senatorial election where the most pronounced and credible candidate according to general opinion lost the primary election to an unpopular candidate, which also could be observed got his ticket after being anointed by a godfather in the State.

According to feelers, all hands seem to be pointing at the erudite scholar and orator, Dr. Chris Asoluka who is currently under intense pressure to seek alternative platform to realize the desire of Owerri zone for a strong voice in the Senate.

Meanwhile, the home of Okwuruoha as he is called by his people has continued to receive the presence of different political groups and Parties, who in a quest to field in credible and popular candidates are all on him to realize the people’s mandate through their platform.

Anonymously, a source and one of the wooing political party members confirmed that: “Strong opposition that would give Imo people better alternative in every election needs a candidate like Dr. Asoluka. In 2015 when the new Senate will be debating the constitutional report, Ndigbo and Imo people cannot afford to miss an articulate representation of one of the former vice presidents of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and former President of Aka Ikenga.

“Critical issues including restructuring of Nigeria and creation of additional States in the Southeast to bring it to equal with other geopolitical zones will be discussed, so, Ndigbo cannot afford to shoot themselves in the foot. Asoluka may be stretching his loyalty too far. If he leaves this time, I think we all will understand it as not being desperation. For God’s sake, he should leave, by the way APGA and UPP are all on him to fly their Senatorial ticket in Owerri zone. He has the capacity to win election for our Party. I wish you are in the street and villages to observe the coldness of the people when his exit news broke after that manipulated Primary election.”
