Finally! Linus Okorie Writes On Myles Munroe's Exit

In an emotional laden piece, written by the President of Guardians of the Nation International (GOTNI), Linus Okorie, captioned: "Great men pass away only in their bodies but their legacy lives on." He goes down memory lane to unveil his meeting with late Dr. Myles Munroe in Nigeria and other related experiences therein.

Read on:

It is with great difficulty that I come to terms with the passing of an uncommon leader and his wife. I have spent the whole day crying, thinking through the text messages and comments about his life and its impact on generations of leaders across the world. I am very convinced that Dr. Myles died empty.

Remembering his words to me as he stared into my eyes in 2003 at Mama Idahosa`s house in Benin city, he said “Linus, Jesus Christ raised a school of thought to promote the Kingdom of God and he turned the world around. I raised a school of thought on Leadership and purpose in the Bahamas and see what my country has become. I see you are raising a school of thought to change Nigeria and Africa. Go ahead and make it happen.” A week later he replied my letter saying “Linus I am very privileged to serve on the GOTNI advisory board. What a man of conviction and humility! What a man who could see the great future in a seed.

Today I remember the three days we spent in Owerri impacting thousands of lives. Today I remember the private moments of wisdom I was blessed with as I shared the many dreams in my heart. I remember our unfinished businesses. As I stop crying today I sense a huge burden that the baton has been passed on. As we lead other men and women who share in your ideals, we will continue with the work passed on by our mentor, teacher, inspiration and leader.

As you join the other great men and women in the bosom of the great Lord, I need to remind all the living that great men pass away only physically but their legacy lives on. This legacy can never perish or pass away. We embrace this great call to run with the legacies of Dr. Myles Munroe. The work continues - To develop leaders that will die empty.

We at Guardians of the Nation International (GOTNI) join others from around the world to condole and pray with Dr.Myles Munroe’s family and friends including the families of those great friends and workers who accompanied Dr.Myles to the Bahamas.
